Just like the past two years the BTST team planned and executed an amazing bake sale. Although, unlike the past two bake sales, this bake sale was different. It was held during the winter season. The BTST team was used to the warm weather with the summer vibes but this change in conditions meant that they had some adjusting to do. Regardless of the cold weather that was awry, the BTST team created a warm, welcoming environment in the area.
On February 3rd, the day before the BTST Winter Bake Sale, a bake sale prep day was held to bake and decorate the delicious goods that would be sold the next day. The menu consisted of chocolate chip, peanut butter, and white chocolate cookies; lemon and blueberry muffins; banana bread; brownies; madeleines; rice krispies; caramel turtles; dalgona; and more! In total, we had 15 types of items available to sell which may seem like tedious work and it would be a mistake to say it wasn’t, it certainly was tiring work to create large amounts of baked goods when the majority of the team was not experienced bakers and stepping out of their comfort zone to try something new. But the atmosphere the team created made it more like a time to get to know each other and have fun rather than a seemingly endless amount of tedious work. At the end of the day, the team left the kitchen with all the baked goods and signs prepped and decorated and their moods lifted, excited for tomorrow.
On the next day, the BTST team woke up to a chilly morning and started setting up for the bake sale at 10 am. They turned some fun jams on to keep everyone’s moods lifted and create a fun, warm environment to attract possible customers. The team was waving signs, walking around the block, and jumping up and down to get people's attention and it worked! At the end of the day, the team was able to raise $916.35 in the course of 6 hours.
The bake sale was organized in order to raise money for BackToSchoolTogether to fund future endeavors. Currently, we are paying for the wifi of a school in Guatemala that we have been supporting since 2023. We have also been able to pay for projectors and carpeted floors, which were once dirt floors, for these schools to provide a better learning environment for the children in Guatemala because everyone deserves to be educated.
Stay up to date with the future endeavors of BackToSchoolTogether and continue to support our Non-Profit to reach our goal of making a positive impact on many children’s education around the world!
